In a frenetic and self-serving world, a group of Angelenos scramble to get ahead as they face their own worst enemy – themselves

Against the backdrop of a secret rocket test, a group of Angelenos struggle to survive and get ahead in an increasingly competitive and mixed-up world. Whether their pursuit is for sex, love, money or career success, they each ultimately grapple with what is truly important in their lives as they chase after their own version of bliss.

Young AMBER, a coffee shop barista, fights to get over a horrible break-up after her studly exboyfriend, MIKE, left her when he learned she was carrying his baby. Mike agonizes over whether he’s made the right decision, while his best bud JERRY, womanizer extraordinaire, attempts to remind him of the infinite pleasures of single life.

The mild mannered, yet charming rocket engineer, BOB HARDY, is in poised preparation for his own baby: the test of an experimental scramjet, taking place that evening. When he is unfairly fired from his job because of an unsubstantiated office rumor, Bob quickly spirals out of control with near disastrous results.

Meanwhile, Bob’s rival, PHIL, a businessman with a nasty temper, learns of the secret rocket test and hires the bumbling country-boy TOMMY to shoot it down. Phil must also contend with his trophy wife NINA as she schemes to relieve him of his millions.

Bob's boss, self-made-man ARTHUR, wants to get his timid 23 year old virgin son GREG laid by setting him up on a date with KATHY, the overbearing mother of his own 21 year old girlfriend. Poor Greg, who seems to have gotten in over his head, desperately tries to escape Kathy’s oversexed grip.

Employing a crisscrossing narrative over one 24 hour period, VAPOR TRAILS seamlessly weaves four stories into one romping tale showing us people pursuing their own version of happiness, while stumbling over themselves and each other in the process.

VAPOR TRAILS is a thought provoking comedy with a heart about the search for happiness and the survival of the fittest. It takes a hilarious look into the foibles and dysfunctions of relationships while people struggle to connect and get ahead in their own convoluted ways. The nature of humanity hasn’t really changed since it was first written about: people do what they do because they are really just trying to be happy. What is of particular relevance today, as our world grows increasingly fast-paced and competitive, is that people seem to look for it in all the wrong places – which is the world of our film.

Whether it be in the form of money, sex, fame, success or love, people are constantly battling themselves and each other to find their own personal nirvana, yet it is so often just out of arms reach. But it is with the triumph of love and honest human connection that our story closes, as two main characters embrace while the cacophony of the world swirls around them. Both playful and poignant, audiences will enjoy the characters and their pitfalls, and revel in their rollercoaster lives.
